Clinical supervision in Eastbourne and online
Room to think.
Space to be honest.
Therapeutic work can leave us feeling moved, uncertain, challenged or stuck. Supervision offers somewhere to explore these experiences and think carefully about what is happening for our clients and within ourselves.
My approach is person-centred and relational, combining empathy and understanding with honest reflection and thoughtful challenge. I want us to develop a relationship where you can bring the things you find difficult to say, alongside the parts of your work that feels more settled.
My aim is always to offer a high level of support alongside gentle challenge, helping you make sense of your responses, deepen your understanding of the work and develop confidence in your own therapeutic voice.
MY APPROACH TO SUPERVISION
The relationship
is part of the work
Good supervision involves more than bringing client work into the room. The relationship we develop becomes part of how that work is understood. How free you feel to question yourself, disagree with me, admit uncertainty or say that something within our supervision is not working will influence what becomes possible between us.
I do not think openness can simply be expected from a supervisee. It is something we create together. I will try to meet what you bring with curiosity rather than judgement, be honest about my own responses, and take seriously any feedback about how you experience me or our work.
Sometimes the most important part of supervision is the thing that has not yet been said. I will regularly invite us to reflect on how openly and honestly we are able to work together, so that tension, misunderstanding or uncertainty can become something we think about together rather than something either of us has to manage alone.
Sometimes, what feels most difficult to say is exactly what supervision needs to make room for.
